Tulip Montessori

Every child blooms, in their own time…

About Tulip Montessori

Tulip Montessori is a small, bilingual (English–Dutch) Montessori daycare that provides a warm, safe, and stimulating environment for children from 18 months to 3 years. Inspired by the Montessori philosophy, our daycare supports each child’s natural development and love of learning.

We believe that every child is unique and learns best through hands-on experiences. Our carefully prepared, home-like environment encourages independence, exploration, and respect for self and others. Children are gently exposed to both English and Dutch throughout the day in songs, stories, and everyday routines.

At Tulip Montessori, children are guided by trained educators who observe and support their individual needs. Through a balance of freedom and gentle structure, children develop essential life skills such as concentration, coordination, and self-confidence.

Our mission is to create a nurturing, inclusive space where children can grow at their own pace — emotionally, socially, and intellectually — while feeling seen, safe, and truly at home.

As Rumi Said; ‘If light is in your heart, you will find your way home.’’
In the words of Maria Montessori, “The child is both a hope and a promise for mankind.”
My journey of self-discovery began as a Montessori educator, where I saw firsthand how this method helps children find their own inner light. By creating an environment that nurtures each child’s potential, we can guide them toward a lifetime of learning and fulfilment.
Our View of Community

Today, we see the world as one large, interconnected community. At Tulip Montessori Daycare, we want children and the adults around them to understand that human life is universal and that our choices affect others. We are all interdependent; no one can truly stand apart from this shared human community.

A community can be described as a group of people with different social and family backgrounds who come together to support the physical, mental, social, and moral well-being of its members. In this sense, our daycare group is also a community.

For every child, the family is the first and most fundamental community. In the past, the family home was a place where almost everything happened: birth and care of babies, education, nursing, and support for the elderly. Today, it is no longer possible for one family to carry all these responsibilities alone. Many of these roles are now shared with society, including early childhood education and care.

There are several reasons why it can be valuable for a child to join a formal community such as a daycare group before the age of three:

  • Working parents
In many families, one or both parents work. A high quality daycare environment offers children consistent care, clear routines, and a safe place to spend their day, while parents can focus on their work with peace of mind.

  • Only children
Family sizes are getting smaller, and many children grow up without siblings. A daycare group offers daily opportunities to play, share, and communicate with other young children.

  • Healthy separation between parent and child
In a professional, caring environment, children can take their first steps toward independence, while parents experience a positive and supported separation.

  • Human beings need to be together
We are social by nature. Learning to live together in a small group teaches children to care for themselves, for others, and, through this, for the wider world.

  • Migration and transition
Moving to a new country or culture can be challenging for both children and parents. A stable, warm daycare community can offer guidance, continuity, and a sense of belonging during these transitions.

At Tulip Montessori Daycare, we see our group not just as childcare, but as a small, caring community in which children, parents, and educators grow together.

“…we must create an environment for the child wherein the child can carry out its experiments, an environment in which he finds the possibilities of carrying on his activities without being all the time chased away by adults. A sort of nursery world, a world made for the child. It is this which Montessori Schools aim at. There is a world of difference between the ordinary school where the idea is to teach the child, and ours where there is an environment of life for the child.”

Infant Community

Our Infant Community is a small Montessori daycare group for children from 18 months to 3 years. Children attend independently five full days per week in a calm, home like environment.

Children are born with an inner drive to learn and explore. They flourish when they are in an environment that matches their stage of development. An attractive, meaningful and orderly space is especially beneficial for young children.

In our Infant Community we follow the core principles of the Montessori method: respect for the child, a carefully prepared environment, free choice of activity, following the child, recognising sensitive periods and supporting freedom of movement. Tulip Montessori is a bilingual setting in English and Dutch where children are gently supported to become confident, curious and independent.
